This website

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking. The pre-order form sends what you type to us by email, through a form service, and we use it only to reply to you and to tell you when Link ships. We do not share it with anyone else and we delete it when it is no longer needed for that.

The Link app

This policy covers the Link mobile app for Android and iOS (package com.playandtrack.thelink), published by Play and Track AB, Sweden.

The short version

The app collects no personal data. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no cloud service. Everything it does happens between your phone and your Link unit on your own home network.

What the app does with data

Stored on your phone only. After setup the app remembers the local network address and the name of your Link unit so it can open the remote directly next time. This is kept in the app’s private storage on the device and is removed when you uninstall the app or set up a different unit.

Sent to your Link unit only.

  • During first-time setup the Wi-Fi network name and password you type are sent over Bluetooth Low Energy directly to the Link unit, which stores them itself to join your network. They are not sent anywhere else and the app does not keep a copy.
  • While you use the remote, the commands you tap (volume, input, mute and so on) travel over your local network to the Link unit. Nothing leaves your network.

Never sent to us. Play and Track AB operates no server the app talks to. We receive no usage data, no device identifiers, no crash reports and no personal information from the app.

Permissions

  • Bluetooth — to find a Link unit that is waiting to be set up and to pass it your Wi-Fi details. Used only on the setup screen.
  • Location (Android 11 and earlier only) — those Android versions require the location permission for any Bluetooth scan. The app never reads, stores or transmits your position. On Android 12 and later, and on iOS, no location permission is requested.
  • Local network (iOS) — to reach the Link unit on your Wi-Fi.

Third parties

The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking software. The Link unit itself may fetch signed firmware updates from a public download server; that is a function of the unit, is described in its user manual, and transmits no personal data.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published at the same address with a new effective date.
